Unexpected Visitor – Snake. Chapter 3

Written by Sandra Landrock

During a meeting with a cleaning company that was presenting a proposal, I proudly led the representatives through our facility. But when we entered the warehouse, we got a surprise: a snake had made itself at home!

One of the two representatives, who had prior experience with snakes, immediately offered his help. Using a large industrial broom, he tried to push the snake out through the freight door.

The situation was tense, as the snake went into a defensive stance and resisted. After five to ten minutes, he finally managed to remove the snake from the warehouse. Despite my repeated attempts to convince him not to put himself in danger, he remained determined and successfully resolved the situation.

Venomous Snakes in Texas

Texas is known for its diverse snake population, including several venomous species like rattlesnakes, copperheads, and cottonmouths. These snakes can pose a threat to humans, especially if they find their way into production facilities or warehouses.

To protect yourself and your employees, it’s important to take precautionary measures:

· Regular Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of your buildings to ensure that no snakes can enter.

· Sealing Entry Points: Seal cracks and gaps in walls, floors, and doors to make it harder for snakes to get in.

· Cleanliness and Order: Keep the premises clean and free of debris, as snakes are often attracted to trash and clutter.

· Employee Training: Train your employees on how to handle snakes and administer first aid in case of a snakebite.

· Professional Help: Hire professional pest control services if necessary to safely remove snakes.
